OUT OF MY MIND is one of our projects, actually this is a Global Reading Circle.

Amazingly, we think, feel, and understand very similar although we all have different culture and belong to different countries. Having the opportunity to read the same book, learn and share our feelings, our thoughts and understand others develops empathy in our community.

I feel grateful for this wonderful way to learn!

Mrs. Lovelace during the inclusion program told the students
"Music is powerful, it can connect us to memories. It can influence our mood and our responses to problems we might face."

2) During the inclusion program Melody had a new friend Rose and in one of the music classes Mrs. Lovelace asked them to be quiet and Melody thought "Never in my life have I had a teacher tell me be quiet because I was talking to somebody in class! It was the best feeling in the world".

OMM chapter 13

1.-In Chapter 13, Mrs. V. has begun to babysit Penny too.
Penny has become something of an escape artist, so Mrs. V needs to be increasing the supervision.
2.- One day, Mrs. V. tells Melody that she has won six tickets to the new aquarium downtown.
3.- Mrs. V. promises to take Melody and her family, but they need one more. When Melody asks to take Rose, Mrs. V agrees.
4.- It is all set up and Melody is very nervous when the day arrives.
5.-Rose meets Penny, Mrs. V and Melody's family and starts talking to them with confidence.
6.- However, two girls from school are there too and they make fun of Melody and Rose for being there with Melody.
7.-Melody's mom tries to protect them but her husband stops them.
8.-Mrs. V gets mad with those girls and starts protecting Rose and Melody.
9.-One of the girls escapes of the punishment and the other one regrets.
10.-At the end, they leave Rose in her house and Rose says she enjoyed the ride but Melody doubts it.

Melody to invite Rose so she ask Mrs.V.
Mrs.V agreed and said she will call Rose mom to ask permition.
Mrs.V decided to put melody the names and types of fish in her little board.
Melody learned all the names of the fishes.
She was really excited because Rose was going to the aquarium with her.
Rose was surprised with Melody's sister Penny.
At the aquarium they found Clarie and Molly, Rose was surprised and ashamed at the same time because she was going with Melody and she was a different girl.
They had a great day!!! :) Melody was very happy.
I think Rose reaction was bad, because she doesn't accept her "friend" as she is and looks like.

Our summary (chapter 13)
This summary was about that Mrs.V won a contest and she won 6 tickets for the aquarium, Mrs.V invited Melody and her family. But Melody wanted to invite Rose because she is her "friend", Melody think that Rose will be with her but that was not true, Rose was with all Melody's family! When they got to the aquarium Melody saw so many fishes and sharks and when Melody saw the fishes she remembered Ollie her fish. Few hours later Molly and Claire bothered Melody and her family! So her mother watched Molly and Claire so with her eyes you can saw that her mother was mad with that 2 girls!! Mrs.V also watched Molly and Claire so she started to bothered them with their braces. We think that it's not fair to be that kind of person that's not having empathy, and Rose it's not a real friend! So in the place of Melody we will be very mad.

Chapter 21: Melody is now in the team's competition, she is going to participate in Whiz Kids. 1) What do you think this represents for her? Be sure to write a thoughtful answer. 2) Ask her a question about this.

Chapter 22: Visualize Melody and the team during the competition. Do a drawing of how do you see them and write on it three complete sentences giving Melody an advice and cheering her to continue. If you are able post it in Facebook and also bring it tomorrow.

The three sentences are: Melody you can do it you need to continue. It doesn't matter if you don't have a cerebral palsy you can continue.

I think Melody feels happy that Mr. Dimming choose her to go and participate on a contest called whiz kids, at the same time she feels not so happy because she is not able to talk by her self only by a medic talker, Melody do you think you and your team are going to win this contest?

Please don't be afraid, you're very inteligent and it doesn't matter what the people say about you, be confident of yourself and relax because you are special and you have a lot of people that loves you, everything will be okay so focus on what you're gonna do.

Melody I know that now you are a winner , so your work was amazing you are a beautiful smart girl , now you are going to D.C. To keep working that good just do your best and be proud of yourself , even thought you loose I believe in you. Do all your effort cause this experience is gonna be very important in your life , no matter of what people say of you they dont see the inteligent girl you are ! I think those words means that she thought the day was right because she was going to Washington, but at the end she wasn't able to go because of a problem and she wasn't going to the international Whiz Kids. I think that she will go to Washington and win the contest.

Melody's feelings changed because at first she was happy about her trip to Washington DC but a problem with the weather cancelled the flight.Melody felt frustrated and angry because she couldn't to show the world that she is smart and the cerebral palsy is not a problem to be smart. My prediction is that Melody will not go to the contest.

Early in the day Melody was very happy because she was going Washington D.C. to participate in the Whiz-Kids but in the check in at the airport, Melody was told that her fly was cancelled. So her day was turned into a deception.

My predition is that Melody will be sad.

Thanks to the book of out of my mind, I noticed there are persons that doesn't has the same opportunities that we have, also I noticed that the words are very important because they show the others what are your feelings. I think this book is a lesson of life because it shows you the problems that Melody suffered because of her cerebral palsy. This books touches a lot of feelings like joy and worry, but it also shows the sadness.

I think Rose's attitude was a very bad and pretencious attitude. I think that for Melody, having friends was very important because it made her feel like a normal girl. The persons that showed Melody her friendship were Catherine and Mrs. V because they supported her 'till the end.

OUT OF MY MIND A LESSON OF LIFE

The book Out Of My Mind is a lesson for whom has read thits book because Melody fight to express her self in different ways. An example is the Medi-Talker that a computer that help Melody to express herself with the other, I learn that all the person with many types of disabilitis a example is Melody say her first word that is " I love you mom and dad" this moment I want to cry because because a girl who has cerebal palsy a she cant express say I love you and is like is a new part to Melody because she can express.

this book touches the heart of the people because I felt connected with feeling in the story.
